‘ ’ REBECCA LEONARD RDN Dip Orth (Warwick) ≥ ORTHODONTIC THERAPIST ebecca started working as a dental nurs e in 2002 . Rebecca was keen to enhance her knowledge and in 2004 obtained her Na tional Certificate in Dental Nursing. This was followed by Dental Radiography certifi cate and the National certifi cate of R Orthodontic Nursing, both achieved in 2005. In 2008 Rebecca was accepted onto the fi rst Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy course at Warwick University. In 2009 Rebecca was awarded her Diploma with an additional award for Most Outstanding student. Rebecca is keen to keep up to date with new techniques and technology and is trained to use the Itero scanner for Invisalign. Rebecca enjoys cooking and baking for family and friends, and Rebecca also enjoys reading. ORTHODONTIC THERAPIST The orthodontic therapist is a new role which enables all dental nurses and other dental care professionals to work in a clinical capacity, under the supervision of an orthodontist. First, the dental care professional must undertake a year-long training programme, leading to an approved qualifi cation in orthodontic therapy. This is usually a higher education course involving a high degree of practical training at the student’s training practice.
